Stats (Need Snow here)

Although aware of the fact that you explicitly asked for Snow, I'll go ahead with the initiative to answer this question based on the fact that this sort of issue was discussed with staff with my personal involvement. Even then, Snow's still free to post after myself, so no harm should come; but, on to the point. Yes, we have expressed some intention to create something of a stat-system so as to effectively utilise a battle-system and accordingly deal with combative situations or otherwise. I'd like to place some emphasis on the statement "something of a stat-system". At it's core, it is essentially a stat-system, but not in the traditional sense. For the time being, we have discussed and are working on two different ideas to use under the premise that both are as effective as we can make them, match with the intentions of the site's overall structure and focus, and are plausible. Neither paradigm is numerical. The first is built moreso on the foundation of a "skill system", the second on a "tier system". With the introduction of either system, details in other of the site's systems are subject to change so as to accommodate, such as the level system.

In the "tier system", as opposed to having set amounts of experience to gain per-mission or other predetermined amounts, therefore making power-gains achievable simply through numerous repetitive threads, it requires the completion of threads that actually offers growth in the character. This is, after all, a roleplay forum played through writing; not an MMORPG. In the "skill system", growth of abilities--particularly physical attributes--are dictated by the implementation of specified skills that accentuate certain attributes, with EXP being possibly expended in either levels to grow overall and achieve higher tiers and corresponding unlocks in equipment and techniques, or into these specified skills to increase individual strengths that--with dedication--may actually outshine altogether those of superior tiers. In the occasion that the skill system is used, there may be the intention to rid missions of a set amount of EXP gained in order to shift focus to character development as a focus in growing and empowering one's character. What dictates character development, and thereby allows a character to grow, will most definitely be explained in either system as it is a quintessential aspect to either of them.

As both options are still under discussion and development, not all the details are ironed out. That being said, on the note of establishing a stat-system for combative instances in threads, for the time being I'd have to ask that the members be patient and wait. In advance, personally, and on behalf of the staff we appreciate the understanding. I will be sure to keep you guys updated on these systems, which ones we pick, and the fleshed out details that follow. The entirety of the chosen system will likely be held in the staff-only area, and will be revealed to the public with a completed rendition all at once.
