Where all worlds exist within every possibility imaginable. Where here you might be nothing more than a normal human living your life among heroes and villains, but in another you were one of them yourself? This is a story of two lives that became one, an aristocrat that gained the knowledge of a king. It is believed that time is something that continues endlessly at the exact same flow, but not all universes fall in the footsteps of their brethren. Some still remain in the dark ages where technological advances have yet to happen, whether because they lacked the geniuses whom crafted the ideas or perhaps because the world gave birth to humans much later. In one world, a medieval era still thrives with both magic and dragons and in another, a world with heroes and villains with powers unique and inspiring. This is the story of how two lives became one: - Morgain - The King (Warning: Long):
England was facing it's most trialing time thus far with the loss of their King at the hands of a foreign invader with the ability to transform into a White Dragon whom planned on seizing the kingdom for himself within the coming years after amassing more to follow him into battle. A lone mage was said to bring about a prophecy that would bring prosperity to England and rid of the White Dragon for good.
"The King has hidden the one who will become his heir. They will become the King of the next generation. The incarnation of the Red Dragon. The new king will bring many knights together to a round table and together they will vanquish the White Dragon. The King lives, it shall be known soon."
That prophecy was given ten years ago, the heir would be fifteen this year. That very heir had been in a fostering care of a veteran knight father and his son who followed in his footsteps in becoming a knight as well. She was taught history of the lands around England among many other subjects, even practiced in the sword with her adoptive brother.
"Morgain, go into town and bring your brother his lance, you should still be able to catch him if you hurry now." The father spoke, worn from the day as he simply rested at a wooden table, a cup in hand. She sighed before answering, "My brother, a knight, forgetting his lance? Is that possible?"
A small chuckle arose from the father. "Indeed, it must be because there has been no jousting held in the recent years." Taking hold of a lance both brilliantly crafted and ornate, she turned her eyes over. "Understood, I need only bring this to him?" With a nod he beckoned her off with a wave of the hand. "Do so, this will be your last task of the day."
Without knowing, the girl wandered off to find her brother within town, the Magus that had told of the prophecy was returning to the city and many spoke of him and gathered to hear of his words. [He's returned!] They would say, leaving the girl now carrying her brother's lance curious. Entering the gathering of many faces, she listened to the words of the people.
[He came saying he will choose the King's heir! All the knights of the realm are gathering. The one whom pulls the sword from the stone will become the new king! Who will it be? Who will become king?] Morgain's eyes flickered to a beautiful weapon stuck inside of a slab of stone. Several knights gathered around it, fervently desiring to be the one to pry it free. Try as they may, one by one each failed and left with their pride hurt.
"Brother, is that the sword of selection?" Morgain asked, finding her brother not too far off and handing him his weapon as she had been told. "It is a sword that none can draw, a figure that only by existing causes problems. The one who will become King will be decided by the jousting tourney." Morgain's brow rose, so that is why he needed his lance? "It's already been decided, it's a good way to choose."
Morgain couldn't fully believe that it was, even as he continued on; "What is human cannot be seen, it is more human to measure one's power by their physical feats and money. It's easier to help ourselves with objectives that align with our interests. You should run home now, before someone notices your feminine frame and makes fun of you for it. It's far easier to lie of you being my brother when you are not here." With that, her brother rose and left to go join the many other knights whom had given up on the sword and went to participate in the tourney.
[Shall we also go?], [So the Mage's Prophecy was not true..] people murmured to themselves as they walked or got upon their horses. "No wants to see, no one wants to believe..." Morgain spoke to herself, alone now feet from the sword in it's stone embrace. She did not know of her own parent's faces. She could not help but wonder why she was trained since the day she had reason about the kingdom and been denied her human desires.
The fifteen years she had experienced and lived with nothing noteworthy, with dreams of a Magus where she was trained in secrecy yet believing only the dreams as wishful fairytales and nothing more. Pulling the sword to her, held a feeling different from admiration or love, it was only that it resonated inside of her as right and beautiful. While young, she was hardworking but believed the sword would not be freed, that it wasn't going to happen.
Like humans born to be humans, dragons also had their desired function. "Thank you, brother... but I'm sorry." She spoke as she stepped up to the sword and grabbed hold of it's handle. "Are you sure you wish to pull that sword?" The magus spoke behind her, doing his best to warn her. "You startled me, but it is nice to meet you outside of my dreams." A smile rested over her lips and he nodded. "You will face hardships, many will desire to hate you and you will meet a horrendous end."
"No, many people were smiling so certainly this path... I don't think it's the wrong one." With a pull of the handle, the sword wiggled before it set loose and rose free from the slab of stone. It's brilliance marveled the air around it in it's dazzling display. A weapon fit for a king, no less.
Time spent after pulling the sword from the stone was made to master the weapon itself before gaining the title of rightful king. She started the first out of the eleven battles that would be waged with the warring invaders of the lands nearby. Starting with the White Dragon as the prophecy foretold long ago. With the help of a famous knight, she vanquished the Dragon and freed the lands of it's tyranny and formed the castle that would house the other knights of the round.
After several wars, the seats of the round were filled and long years had passed with the last attack towards Rome being the key to eventual peace. The war seemed to be going well, a peace treaty was formed and Morgain was making her way back to her home land - only to find it had been attacked while she left. Another had arisen, a daughter by blood of Morgain born of a night where she was once stolen away by a witch when none of her knight could help her.
Morgain knew of this blood bond but actively denied her daughter the right to the throne, considering her a bastard child that she had never meant to foster. She could never accept her and that denial formed a hatred within the daughter which led to become Morgain's eventual downfall. The final battle of her reign raged until Morgain stood with her daughter clad in armor, mountains of bodies all dead around them with her sword long but having lost it's brilliance now.
It was there that Morgain and her daughter traded final blows with each other, stabbing one another with their weapons with her daughter perishing first from the grievous wound whilst Morgain... heavily wounded barely clung to life. She was found by one of her most trusted knights whom carried her off to a safe forest upon his horse. There she rested within the forest, with her body on the verge of death but with a close feeling of peace.
The forest was special in that it could unlock the hidden powers within the individuals that did not want for it but that needed it. Thus, as the knight went off to retrieve the Magus, Morgain's power awoke within her... a gift that allowed her to interact with other dimensions where she existed. She was not aware she was capable of this and the portal that opened for her was upon accident.
Taking her through time and space, the woman's body was strained by the transfer into another world - arriving where her alternate self of this world lay. Due to the King's wounds, she had little left of her life from the previous world and the laws of this world tried to rationalize having two of the same person within it. Upon contact with another, they bodies merged together with their souls becoming one but their minds remaining separate. The portal closed and along with it, the old life that the King version of Morgain had lived... now residing within the body of an aristocrat within this day and age.
- Lady Morgain - The Aristocrat:
Born to a rich family with the intention of her parents to marry her off when she became older to another highly established family, Lady Morgain was a beautiful young girl that viewed the world innocently. She knew of the heroes and villains that lived within the world after awakening to or being born with certain powers. Yet the young lady was thought to be normal, a youthful blonde with vibrant blue eyes that was taught only the lessons that any other child would from school but also manners of how to behave herself.
Young Morgain had a dream at the age of 7 years old, one where the world was united together under a singular peace. Where all were equal and no more wars had to be raged. Where her mother could smile everyday and her father could be proud of her. For that reason alone, she worked hard every day at the lessons they paid for her to have. Science, literature, math, etiquette and more, while the work never seemed to cease, she didn't let it get to her.
At the age of 10, Morgain befriended a new servant in her household who had become one of the few friends that Morgain actually had. Many of the other families that paid visit to her household had children Morgain's age but they were all very full of themselves and constantly berated her family and heritage because they valued their own above all others. To them, Morgain's family was just at the lowest threshold to be considered among the upper class, making enough wages to have a few servants around the home and a reasonably sized manor.
Morgain was afraid of the idea that what the children her age thought applied to all other of her generation. The girl gained the fear of not being accepted and thus overworked herself further. Doubling her studies as she grew older, with only her servant friend at her side to help her to get through it. Her father's business weakened and eventually fell through, leading him to drink while her mother left because of the fights that were brought about as a result of his drinking.
When Morgain reached the age of 18, she was told of her arranged marriage, she would be given to another family to marry their son and become Morgain du Alford, merging the families together in the process and assuring that despite the loss of her Father's company, they would stay within the upper-class. Morgain wanted her father's happiness but she did not love the man that she was told she would have to marry. Her servant told her to follow her heart but yet Morgain did not have the resolve to follow through and fight back against the marriage yet.
That was, until a week before the marriage was set to occur, during this time upon a night like any other... Morgain awoke. A portal opened within her room and the sound of clattering was heard, within the moonlight was a woman that looked exactly like her. Every fiber of her being told her that this couldn't be real, that she must still be dreaming but the kindness inside of her heart could not simply allow the armored woman whom appeared wounded to simply perish if it were true that she were real.
Rising from her bedside, she moved to the woman and reached out her hand to the barely conscious version of herself from another world. Who took hold of her hand in confusion and sealed the fates of both lives in that one moment. There was a light that emanated from their hands that were in contact with one another and in a blinding flash, the young aristocrat collapsed unconscious with the armored version of herself missing.
In truth, they had merged and the powers that were slumbering inside of her had begun to awaken. Her mother without telling her father, was a powered human with relatively weak powers that she rarely used but from their shared genetics Morgain too was powered but likely would never have awakened to the gifts without the arrival of her other self whose dimensional powers had been brought to the surface within a forest that should have been her grave.
Lady Morgain awoke after two days of full slumber, with her servants having all worried that she may not recover from whatever had placed her under this long sleep. To their surprise, Morgain seemed to be acting differently than usual, inquiring where she was and what lands they were in. This was due to the other personality that now resided within her, the version of Morgain that was once King of another world's England.
It was only during the next that her body took to sleep that both personalities interacted with each other, learning about their experiences and agreeing to share the body that was technically their own but not the same anymore. The Aristocrat version of Morgain that did not wish to marry spoke of her plight and the King version agreed that it was not right for her to have to take the responsibility of the family if she did not wish to.
Before the wedding could be made, Morgain gave a letter written by her more confident version that spoke freely of her desire to decline the wedding and it was eventually called off. Her father was rage-stricken but Morgain while she did worry for her father, assured him that she would be able to secure their family from now on. She promised to restore their family to it's rightful place in the upper class using all of the teaching she gained since she was young and the talents that her King self had (which she kept secret from her father).
With the world open to her like never before, she wondered how she could earn their fortune and status and left home intent on finding a way before she'd return. Taking only one trusted Servant with her, she now travels the world. Face Claim: Saber - Fate/Stay Night Voice Claim: Saber - Fate/Stay Night | |
