Personality:

Canard is an unwavering optimist. Stemming from his confidence in other people, he’s one to see the good parts of anybody. Even if there aren’t any, he’ll simply come up with his own, he’s sure there’s some light in everybody’s heart. To that end, he finds rules of any sort to be a problem. In his eyes, rules are a form of mistrust, and are inherently problematic. In his mind, if there were no rules, then no one would break them.


As a result, he’s got a distaste for bodies of governing, including the world government and marines. Though he opposes such constructs, Canard doesn’t consider himself a criminal or a pirate. Even in revolutionaries, he feels they only want to implement their own sets of rules, and thus are as much a problem as the current world government. Because of his great optimism, Canard is easily trusting of even the most shady strangers. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t defend himself. Against a total stranger, he’s unlikely to be the first one to fight, but he sees combat as a form of healthy expression, not as a violent habit.


His childish optimism can make him seem somewhat aloof and foolhardy, but Canard has a quick eye, and a mind that’s more clever than wise. Selfless and inclusive, he’s constantly on the lookout for new acquaintances and people to join him on his crusade, regardless of their actual capability to contribute. He’s got a firm belief and ambition tied to his primary motivation. Just about everything he does is motivated by creating a Heaven on Earth. He desires to make a location that is immune from the tyranny of rules, and allow people to be their most free, most expressive, absolute best self.

Is always writing letters to people, his family or past friends. Usually, these messages end up as a message in a bottle that never reach their recipient, but he continues to do it, with the utmost confidence they’ll reach their destination, despite it being completely ridiculous.

Dislikes: Vegetables, rules, promises and early mornings.


Motivations: He wants to prove his belief that people are inherently good. He will create a territory using his influence as a pirate that is free of any rules whatsoever. He will free the world.


Fears: Becoming a law-abiding citizen. Being proved wrong about the nature of people. Irrational fear of quicksand.




Character History: Canard was raised by an exceedingly normal family, known in the village for their exemplary manners. Their family were root vegetable farmers, in a village of other farmers and ranchers. The inhabitants of Millyta constantly traded their goods with one another, freely giving and taking as they needed. There were no laws, no marines, or formalities. So, when Canard found a strange-tasting fruit as a child among the goods his family had received from other townspeople, and he discovered strange snowy abilities, nobody ended up being disgruntled. 


Where others might’ve gotten jealous because they could achieve great wealth or power using the fruit, Millyta merely celebrated the boy’s good luck, and when he decided he would show the world their exemplary ways, they helped him build a magnificent ship for his journey, finally seeing him off at the age of eighteen. He’s been sailing the South Blue ever since then.
